I Am.

I Am. *
And so, I won’t speak about myself in third person. You will find this theme throughout my work: adamance that I will claim myself. My name is Kaitlyn Michaux and I insist on feeling alive. It is turtles all the way down of boxes I place myself in; a Russian nesting doll of identities. My work explores the endless pursuit of my desire for there to be no walls to bang my fists against. Yet, I find a way to revel in each new self-imposed and imagined cage. I romanticize these battles through my art, not to beautify suffering but because I want to show you that I enjoy it. I am not a masochist. I want to See myself.
I want you to feel me as I am.
Selected Paintings
The Belladonna series is an ongoing exploration of emotional consummation through color and form. My canvases are often adorned with embellishments or taglines meant to convey richness of inner worlds and delicate contradiction with the density of reality.
